The "death list" had been prepared with the most spectacular and dramatic  ceremonial, enacted at midnight within the recesses of a deep canyon, during which the names of the "elect" had been written in blood drawn from the veins of a murderer.  Not one of those who's names appeared on this blood red "death list" would be permitted to escape from Tombstone alive.
-John Clum explains the conspiracy to murder the Earps, Doc Holliday,  Judge Wells Spicer, Tom Fitch and Marshal Williams.

                                                      Assassination Attempt

December 14th, 1881, An attempt was made on John Clums life when they tried to assassinate him between Benson and Tombstone while he rode the stage coach east. The coach was attacked by five or six men about 30 mins eastbound of Tombstone.  The coach was not transporting any bullion.  The only reason that they attacked was to kill John Clum. They managed to get away from the kill zone,   Clum separated from the coach so he would not endanger the other passengers.  He then walked 20 miles to Benson.

-John Clum's book, It all happened in Tombstone.

The Ghost's of Tombstones past still hangs heavy over the town that wouldn't die.

-The Author

John was aware that a plot existed before hand.

He tried to keep it a secret.  But there were many enemies in Tombstone.
